Easton is located near several major highways, including the Merritt Parkway but the town is something of a rural enclave and is home to over 20 working farms. Easton is on the Aspetuck River, along which you’ll find the 80-acre Aspetuck Historic District, a small part of which is in neighboring Weston. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the district is the oldest part of Easton and is where you’ll find remarkably well-preserved homes that date back to Revolutionary days, one of which was Helen Keller’s. There are hardly any commercial establishments here and lots are larger than they are in other nearby communities. This has helped preserve the town’s bucolic feel, as has the presence of two reservoirs – the Easton and Hemlock reservoirs, which has resulted in more than a third of the town’s land being set aside for preservation.
